Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people think that the job is the only vital thing in their life so they show very little interest in other activities. However, some individuals are more interested in other things and pay less attention to their work. In my opinion, I firmly agree that financial stability is extremely important but one should mainatin the balance between work and hobbies.

On the one hand, nowadays job are highly competitve and challenging due to which People need to invest so much hardwork and time to keep themselves up to date in order to survive in a market and even in their leisure time they try to learn new skills that will help them to boost their career. because of a fear of survival, they show a very less interest in other activities like family gathertings, friends outings and that's how they may make their life full of boredom and they make money a center of their life. As a result, they might be successfull in their professional life but they actually ruined their personal life and have no peace of mind.

On the other hand, peple are spending time on all activities more than their job beacuse of social pressure of the society to look good and left an impression to others that their life is perfect and full entertainment. spending so much on hobbies than job is not much healthy beacuse this leads them to be less productive in their field with fewer skillset and in high time of recession, they will be the first choice for a company to lay them off.

In my opinion, one should show seriousness towards job but make sure to have enough time for personal development as well. For instance, people can spend some time over weekend to go out for a dinner or to watch movie to recharge themselves.

In conclusion, people should maintain a healthy balance between work and other actvities because life would become disaster if an individual neglects any of the side.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes and give a clear personal view: work matters for financial stability, but it should be balanced with hobbies and personal life. The two main body paragraphs also present relevant consequences, such as work-focused people neglecting relationships and hobby-focused people becoming less productive or vulnerable during a recession. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that people prioritising hobbies may be laid off is not supported with a specific explanation or example, and the weekend activity in your opinion paragraph illustrates balance without developing why it benefits people. Develop each side with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation or a concrete example, and make the distinction between leisure interests and neglecting work more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, your opinion, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the central idea of balance is carried through. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links within paragraphs can feel mechanical, particularly the long first body paragraph, where several consequences are joined in one sentence. The shift from discussing social pressure to reduced productivity could also be made more explicit. Use shorter, more focused sentences and clearer links between each claim and its consequence; ensure pronouns such as “they” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “financial stability,” “professional life,” “personal development,” “productive,” and “recession.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss work and leisure beyond basic terms. However, the range is uneven, with noticeable spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations that sometimes distract the reader: “job are highly competitve,” “a very less interest,” “full entertainment,” and “high time of recession.” Some words are also repeated, especially “life,” “job,” and “activities.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases. More precise wording would make your arguments sound clearer and more natural without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result, they might be successful in their professional life…” The overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation remain. For example, “nowadays job are” needs a plural subject and matching verb, while “because of a fear of survival, they” needs clearer punctuation and spacing. The first body paragraph also contains a long sentence with several clauses, making grammatical control harder to maintain. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into shorter units. This will help you retain complex ideas while making the grammar more consistently accurate.
