Student answer (Band 6.0)
People have diffrent views about employement . while some people believe that work is a serious matter and should only focus on it , others argue that jobs is a side activity in front of their hobbies and interests . both perspectives have valid arguments, and this essay will discuss behind each view before explaining why i believe that work should be about things that interests you so that it can be crucial and fun at the same time .
On the one hand , there are several reasons why some people believe their job should be prioritized over anything else , the main argument is that focusing in work maintain a higher position job which enhances your value in society . this is because having a hard working , serious and disciplined reputation maintain you a lot of new oppurtunities and chances. furthermore, work is the source of money so giving it the periority can double the amount of income . for example E-commerce the income depends on how much time u spend on social media . therfore, supporters of this view believe that work should be the only crucial thing in life.
on the other hand , others argue that you should be more passionate about your hobbies and free time interests. one of the main reasons for this is that ignoring your hobbies and what you have fun doing is a waste of youth and life meaning . this means that practicing what you love for instance your favorite sport gives you more energy and makes you show more delight and comitment . Another important point is that working in a field we're interested in makes us more into learning and even putting our best so its fun and income at the same time . Although the first view has some merit , i believe that we should engage in a job that's already a part of our interests and what we love to do because it makes it even easier to focus on it and make money while at the same time you're having fun and entertaining yourself .
In conclusion, both perioritizing your employment and perioritizing your leisure interests have thier own arguments , however i believe that we can work in the field of our interests to maintain happiness and income at the same time

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both attitudes and give a clear personal view: you explain why some prioritise work, then argue that work connected to personal interests can provide both enjoyment and income. The examples of career opportunities, earnings and sport are relevant to the topic. However, the two sides are not developed equally in depth. The work-focused argument relies mainly on status and money, while the leisure-focused argument would benefit from a clearer explanation of how hobbies contribute to wellbeing beyond “waste of youth and life meaning.” The e-commerce example is also difficult to interpret and does not clearly demonstrate the point about income. Develop each main claim with a specific, explained example and make the distinction between leisure hobbies and choosing an enjoyable career clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations securely, with some stronger control in the paragraphing and progression. At times, however, links feel mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For example, “Although the first view has some merit” shifts from discussing hobbies to your opinion without fully clarifying the contrast, and “for example E-commerce” does not connect clearly to the preceding claim. Use more precise referencing and explain how each example supports the sentence before it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “prioritized,” “disciplined,” “passionate,” “commitment,” and “interests.” There are also attempts to express more complex concepts, such as work providing “income at the same time” as enjoyment. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “diffrent,” “employement,” “oppurtunities,” and “periority.” Some combinations are also unnatural or unclear, such as “maintain a higher position job” and “show more delight.” Aim for accurate spelling and learn common collocations as complete phrases. More precise vocabulary for wellbeing, career progression and personal fulfilment would also help you express your ideas with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “because,” and “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and the longer sentences show an effort to connect reasons and results. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For instance, “focusing in work maintain” needs a more accurate verb form and construction, while “jobs is a side activity” has an agreement problem. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, especially after full stops and around commas. Break up some long sentences, check that each subject agrees with its verb, and proofread articles and punctuation. These changes would make your varied sentence structures more controlled and easier to read.
