You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

certain indiviuals admire work as the most imporstant thing in their life while others argue that there is more interets in life then just work,in my opinion work has one part in life and is have a stable financial life for you can have life full of different activities.

most people while building their careers and be so fixated on acheiving their objectifs that they dont see anything else important as they define themselves for their work and limit their use of time as the years progress everything else ssem meaningless for example investment bankers at the first corprote years they avereging 60 to 70 hours a week of work and almost have no timmeleft for social life or activity with time they only focus on ther job as everything seem loses taste and seem worthless and they ok with it

on the other hand others seem to disagree ,me included as its necessary to have seprate life from work and integrate yourself in different hobbies for prone to depression and boredom of the casual routine of just work and and hitting the daily targets set by the firms to be always motivated and excited for life.in my of point view its a must to seprate youself from work as you need to experience the joy and the colorful experience it carries within and to feed your soul the energy needed for it to thrive in the world and be present in the right moment than to be stuck in one interface of one aspect whish is work to share the beaty and the journey you went through as it opens your horizens for example people with different hobbies have a higher dopamine levels than people who dont seperate their personnel life from work.

in conclusiob both parties serves their opinion and the cons and the pros of each decision, for me personnely its important to have different

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes and make your own preference clear: you describe people who prioritise careers, then argue that hobbies and a separate personal life are important. The examples of investment bankers working long hours and people with hobbies experiencing benefits are relevant to the discussion. However, the first viewpoint is mainly described rather than explored, and the banker example does not explain why some people consider work the most important part of life. Your own argument about avoiding boredom and depression is more developed, but the claim about dopamine is broad and would be stronger with a clear explanation or a more specific example. The conclusion begins to restate your view but is incomplete, so the response does not fully bring its ideas together.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about career-focused people, a paragraph presenting your own view, and a concluding attempt. The contrast signalled by “on the other hand” helps readers follow the shift between attitudes. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to track because several ideas are joined into very long sentences, with limited punctuation. For example, the discussion of bankers moves from working hours to social life and then to their attitude without clear sentence boundaries. Some links are also repetitive, such as repeated use of “as” and “for example.” Use shorter sentences, organise each paragraph around one main point, and complete the conclusion to make the overall progression clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “fixated,” “social life,” “routine,” “motivated,” and “horizons,” and you express ideas about work and leisure with some variety. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to read, as in “indiviuals,” “imporstant,” “acheiving,” and “seprate.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “one interface of one aspect” and “everything seem loses taste.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than elaborate wording: for instance, describe work as “one aspect of life” and say that activities “lose their appeal.” Careful proofreading and learning topic-specific phrases would improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “as,” and “for example.” This shows an effort to connect reasons and examples. However, many sentences contain errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation, and these sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “work has one part in life and is have a stable financial life” combines clauses without a clear grammatical structure, while “everything seem loses taste” has problems with agreement and verb form. Several run-on sentences also need to be divided into complete sentences. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, and check verb forms and sentence boundaries during revision.
