Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response shows awareness of the topic and signals an intention to discuss both attitudes and give an opinion: “i will discuss both views” and “given my openion.” It also begins a relevant point about work being important for success and career growth. However, the essay is incomplete: it does not explain the leisure-focused attitude, develop a personal opinion, or support its point with an example. The opening also inaccurately paraphrases the prompt, suggesting that people have “minor interest” in other things and that others have “fewer interest in lesiures,” which obscures the contrast. The response is 89 words, below the required 250. To improve, address both views explicitly, state your position, and extend each main idea with explanation and evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph is followed by a paragraph beginning “on the one hand,” which signals the start of one side of the discussion. This gives the reader some indication of structure. However, the response stops before the argument can progress, and there is no contrasting paragraph or conclusion. The opening sentence of the body paragraph also presents a claim without explaining how it connects to success or providing a supporting detail. The linking phrase “while other argue” does not clearly establish the contrast because the sentence is difficult to interpret. Build a complete sequence of introduction, discussion of each view, your opinion, and conclusion, using clear links between developed ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts topic-related vocabulary, including “success,” “higher growth,” “work,” and “hobbies,” and uses phrases such as “on the one hand” to frame the discussion. However, the range is limited, and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems make the intended meaning unclear. For example, “more interest about their hobbies” and “fewer interest in lesiures” do not express the prompt’s contrast accurately, while “higher growth in their life” is an unnatural phrase. Spelling errors such as “intersting,” “interst,” and “openion” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise expressions such as “career advancement,” “take greater pleasure in leisure activities,” and “prioritise their jobs.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and a longer sentence, and the basic message about work and success can be understood. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. In “most of people are intersting work,” the sentence lacks a correct determiner and verb pattern; “some people believe that most of the people are intersted spend time” also has an incorrect structure after “believe.” The opening uses lower-case “i,” and the sentence beginning “while other argue” is not properly connected to the preceding sentence. These issues make several sentences difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns such as “are interested in spending,” and complete sentence boundaries before attempting more complex structures.
