Student answer (Band 5.5)

This statement increase its importance in a recent times. Some people think that job is the only activity in life and for more focus on job no other activity in life, while other group of people think that other life movement are also essential. In my views i prefer that other skills and activities are have equal importance in daily.

The main reason for this point of view is that person who only focus on job feels tied, less focus on new idea and follow a same pattern in life. They have only concern with job no idea of the trend around a world. Although we should remain touch with job and its related activites explore ourself with knowledge, Some significant ideas to improve our self. But positive hobbies also shows improvement in personal growth, communication skills and some time hobby related to job improve mental skills. For example teachers can improve their knowledge and teaching abilities by taking book reading and watching teaching related movies helps to improve their job skills.

The second reason is the hobbies always improve our physical and mental health which support our job activities more effectively. Person remain concern with his job sometimes increase the risk of health problem and other social issues. Most of the time hobbies becomes another source of income to balance economically growth to spend a luxury life. For example, a person involve in online job with different companies helps to sale his product like plants if his interest in plants.

In conclusion I strongly believe that hobbies are important just like food to remain active our body and decrease health related problems. Only remain touch with job can improvement job related skills but shows lack of different new ideas and communication with your family and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both attitudes: the first body paragraph explains why work-focused people may become restricted in their thinking, while the second presents benefits of hobbies for health and income. Your own preference is stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The work-centred attitude is described mainly through its disadvantages, with little explanation of why someone might value work above other parts of life, such as purpose, achievement, or financial security. Some examples, including selling plants online, are relevant but need clearer explanation of how they support your argument. Develop both perspectives more evenly and make your position more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and each body paragraph has a main focus. Linking phrases such as “The main reason” and “The second reason” help signal the organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from the drawbacks of work-only living to hobbies and then to teachers without clearly connecting each point. Some connections are also mechanical or unclear, particularly “Although we should remain touch with job…” and the transition into the example. Use clearer topic sentences, group related ideas together, and make references between claims and examples explicit so the argument develops more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “personal growth,” “communication skills,” “physical and mental health,” and “source of income.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss both personal and practical benefits of leisure. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “other life movement,” “feels tied,” “remain touch with job,” and “economically growth.” Repetition of “job,” “hobbies,” and “improve” also reduces flexibility. Aim to learn common topic collocations and check word forms and spelling; more precise choices would make your ideas easier to understand and sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “which,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns. For example, “This statement increase” has subject–verb disagreement, while “other life movement are also essential” has problems with number and agreement. In “hobbies also shows improvement,” the verb does not agree with the plural subject. Articles, pronouns and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “a person involve” and the long teacher example. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and punctuation.
