Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few individuals consider work as the most crucial factor in life and have low interest in anything else, while other argues over being more enthusiastic about their hobbies and leisure interest than their jobs. I partially agree with this as one should always maintain a balance between both work and hobbies because working is important for maintaining financial stability, while following your interest is important for ones personal health. i will discuss both the views in the following paragraph.

To begin with, jobs and businessess provides financial benefits which is essential for maintaining a stable lifestyle, For instance, school fees , insurance, bills, daily expenses can only be obtain through professional work or skills. Similarly, it is also important for having some futuristic goals in order to pursue productivity in your life. For example, when a person gets involved in such activities tends to get least distracted by unwanted situations.

On the other hand, people who follow their hobbies on a daily basis stays happier and active, For example, I do yoga for more motivation and health benefits as my hobby. people who make their hobbies as their profession gets success in their lfe such as olympics, football, paintings, arts and theatre. For example, one of my friend is into fashion after being an artist for a long period of time.

In conclusion, maintaing a balance is very much important in order to live a happy and successfull life. In my opinion, one should always prioritise both at times and maintain an equilibirium so that he or she can live peacefully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both attitudes and give a clear overall view: work supports financial stability, while hobbies contribute to personal health and happiness. This addresses the main parts of the question, and examples such as yoga and a friend pursuing fashion help make the discussion relevant. However, the position that people should balance both is stated more clearly than it is argued. The work paragraph focuses on income and goals, while the hobbies paragraph makes broad claims about success in sport and the arts without explaining how these examples support your comparison. Develop each side with a specific reason and a fuller example, then connect these points directly to your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” make the change of viewpoint easy to follow. Overall progression is coherent, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Similarly” introduces a point about future goals without showing how it relates to financial benefits, and “For example” is repeated several times without always adding a developed illustration. Some sentences also contain multiple ideas that would be clearer if separated and linked more precisely. Use referencing and transitions to show the relationship between each reason and its example, rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “financial stability,” “hobbies,” “leisure,” and “productivity.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “personal health” and “futuristic goals.” However, word choice and collocation are sometimes inaccurate or imprecise: “low interest” is less natural here than “little interest,” and “gets least distracted” does not clearly express the intended idea. Spelling errors such as “businessess,” “lfe,” and “successfull” are noticeable, while repeated use of “important” and “For example” limits variety. Build a more precise range of phrases for discussing work, wellbeing, and personal fulfilment, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening sentence and clauses beginning with “when” and “in order to.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, sentence boundaries, and punctuation remain. For instance, “jobs and businessess provides” has a plural subject with a singular verb, and “people who follow their hobbies … stays” has the same agreement problem. Several sentences join independent ideas with commas, as in the sentence beginning “To begin with,” and capitalisation is inconsistent after full stops, including “i will” and “people.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and separating complete sentences with full stops or suitable conjunctions; this will make your varied structures more controlled.
