Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals prefer work over thier hobbies while others think the opposite prioritizing their interests. While, work is essential in life as it is the main source of income for many people but there are also some who have turn their hobbies into successful businesses. I think balancing work with one's interests is equally important.
To begin with, a significant amount of people do jobs for making a good living even though the job might not necessarily be one's area of interest. Not only doing a job secures a regular earning but also it opens a wide variety of opportunities. Although, the career progression may take years but with the right skills and enough experience, junior level employees can progress to top level management roles which have a lot of perks. However, doing long shifts in the office may feel tiring and repetitive.
On the other hand, we can see a rising trend of people focusing on thier hobbies rather than applying to traditional employment. Spending time on things that interests someone has a lot of benefits. For instance, an artist may enjoy his/her life more than the employees working in a company. Also, chasing own interest and commercializing it makes one an owner and it has unlimited potential compared to that of traditional works. Despite having a lot of pros, it has some risks as having just an interest does not guarantee money to fulfill basic needs.
To sum up, a job provides a sense of security as it is less risky compared to runnig behind the hobbies but the latter one has more potential to turn someone a really successful person. I believe, doing a job at the initial stage of the career and focusing the free time on hobbies is the ideal option.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both attitudes and gives a clear personal view: work offers security, while hobbies may bring enjoyment and commercial success, and the writer recommends combining employment with leisure interests. The discussion of regular income, career progression and the risks of relying on a hobby is relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that pursuing an interest has “unlimited potential” is not supported with a specific example or qualification, and the artist comparison is general. The final recommendation is sensible but could be developed by explaining how this balance benefits people over time. More specific examples and fuller explanation of the less-developed claims would make the response more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion that restates the writer’s position. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” helps readers follow the progression. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening sentence beginning “While, work is essential…” is awkwardly joined to the contrast that follows, and “Although, the career progression may take years but…” combines two contrasting structures unnecessarily. References such as “the latter one” in the conclusion require readers to infer which attitude is meant. Use linking expressions more selectively and make contrasts and references explicit to improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing employment and leisure, with relevant expressions such as “regular earning,” “career progression,” “commercializing it,” and “sense of security.” The writer also attempts less common phrasing, including “traditional employment” and “top level management roles.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, though: “a significant amount of people” should use a countable-quantity expression, “things that interests someone” has an awkward form, and “runnig behind the hobbies” does not convey the intended idea naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “thier” and “runnig.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling, while retaining the useful topic-specific vocabulary already present.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex forms, including a relative clause (“which have a lot of perks”), a concessive structure (“even though the job might not necessarily…”), and a conditional idea about hobbies and income. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Although, the career progression may take years but…” incorrectly combines two contrasting conjunctions; “things that interests someone” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “makes one an owner” is missing a complement that clarifies what the person owns. The opening also uses punctuation awkwardly after “While.” Review agreement, clause construction and punctuation, and proofread sentence patterns so complex structures remain controlled.
