Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both attitudes and state your own preference, so the response is relevant to the task. The first body paragraph explains why work matters, using income, rent, loans and children’s education as examples; the next describes the health and social benefits of hobbies and leisure. However, these points are mostly listed rather than explained, and the discussion of the work-focused attitude is not always clear—for example, “more commitments available their life” does not explain how commitments lead people to prioritise work. Your conclusion gives an opinion, but the claim that leisure has “more advantage” is not supported by a clear comparison. Develop each main reason with a fuller explanation or specific example, and make your position more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting contrasting attitudes, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the second hand,” and “As a result” show an attempt to guide the reader through the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several ideas are joined without clear relationships, as in the sequence about financial problems, overtime, leave and loan payments. Some linking expressions are inaccurate or repetitive, and the conclusion repeats the topic rather than drawing the discussion together. Organise each body paragraph around one clear main point, then explain it and give a relevant example; use transitions only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “financial problem,” “physical health,” “mental health,” “hobbies,” and “leisure interests.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the issues being discussed. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “focus,” “important,” and “work.” Frequent spelling errors, such as “regrad,” “intersts,” “commitements,” and “rusult,” also make the writing less clear. Some combinations are unnatural, including “mind relaxed works” and “hard working daily base.” Build a wider set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully; for example, describe work as a source of income and leisure as a way to relieve stress.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a result clause beginning “so that.” However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty sentence structures. For example, “Some people only focuse on their works, because more commitements available their life” lacks a complete, correctly formed clause, while “They are saturday and sunday planning going outside” has an unclear verb pattern. Errors with articles, plurals, agreement, verb forms and punctuation occur throughout, and several sentences require the reader to infer the intended meaning. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Check sentence boundaries and verb forms when editing.
