Student answer (Band 6.5)
An increasing number of skilled individuals, like doctors and engineers, are leaving their nation for better work and salary. Some group of people believe that they should only work on their country. In my opinion, these professionals should have freedom to choose where they work.
To begin with, to become doctors and engineers, they have done a lot of hard work and they should have their own choices for example, if their countries pay them a lower salary, they should be able to work in foreign land which give them better offer. Similarly, these people have to think about not only themselves but also for the better future of their family for example, if their childern got better health and education abroad, they would choose to go because, at last, a person can sacrifice. anything for the better future of their family. And another reason is that due to lack of job oppourtunities for example, many graduates from india go abroad because there are less job opportunities. Due to which they are forced to work on foreign soil.
However, many believe they should stay in their own countries because they think their country is the main reason they have become successful; for example, if they had become doctors and engineers using the resources and money of the country, they should repay their own country by working there.
In sum, both of the sides had their reason to support their claims bu at the last the decision should be in the hand of individual to weather to stay or go abroad .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic motivation for migration and the ethical argument regarding state-funded training. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about 'better future for their family' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific, nuanced examples. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'for example' is used four times in a short space). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'due to which they are forced' which lacks a clear antecedent. While the structure is coherent, the transitions between sentences and paragraphs could be smoother and more varied to improve the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'skilled individuals' and 'sacrifices', but the range is somewhat limited. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'childern', 'oppourtunities', 'india', 'bu', 'weather') and minor word choice issues (e.g., 'work on their country' instead of 'work in their country'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise and varied word usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' country), prepositions ('on' vs 'in'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences (e.g., 'Due to which they are forced...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper closure or using commas incorrectly. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over more complex grammatical structures, keeping the score in the 5.5–6.0 range.
