Student answer (Band 7.0)

Some individuals believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they had their training. But others believe they should be free to work in another country if they wish. I believe with the second view point that the professionals should be free to to work anywhere in the world and should not be bound to only work in country of their training.

The people who believe that that professionals should only serve the country where they did their studies can be due to the reason that in some countries most of the fees and training is provided by the government such as Germany where the tuition fees is zero in public universities. The people believe that professionals like doctors or engineers should give back to their country and work their as their country has invested in them so the country deserves such professionals to work there. Also after training in one country in their langauge it might be difficult for the professionals to settle in some other country with a different language.

I believe that professionals should be free to work in any country as it is their basic natural free will right. Also if an engineer gets to work in some specific areas of expertise in a country where they did training they might get the chance to further broaden their expertise if they work in some other country where experiences might be different. Also in some countries certain programs are being offered but there are no proper career opportunities available in the same country so professionals move to another country for better opportunities. I know one of my friend who did Aerospace Engineering from our country Pakistan but he could not get much job opportunities here so he secured a good job in some multi national company in KSA so he went for it for his career.

In conclusion, professionals should be free to work in any country as it could open some new doors of experiences for them or there could be far more better opportunities than they could have in the country where they did their training.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of Germany's tuition-free system and the personal anecdote about a friend in Pakistan. However, the development of the arguments is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to explore the implications of these ideas more deeply—for instance, discussing the 'brain drain' phenomenon in more detail or the ethical responsibilities of professionals. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'Also', 'In conclusion', and 'The people who believe', but the flow is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions between sentences feel repetitive, and the use of referencing could be more varied to improve the natural flow of the text. Overall, the structure is clear and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a solid band 6.5 or 7.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'expertise', 'multi-national company', and 'natural free will right'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'I believe with the second view point' (should be 'I agree with') and 'work their' (should be 'work there'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the tuition fees is zero' (subject-verb agreement), 'I know one of my friend' (should be 'one of my friends'), and 'far more better' (double comparative). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly clunky. You have control over basic structures, but more consistent accuracy in complex sentences is needed to move into the 7.0+ range.
