Student answer (Band 7.0)

With the increasing access to information and education during the last few decades, the number of doctors and engineers around the world grew rapidly. While some argue that those newly ready professionals should work in the countries in which they first practised and learned others believe that this restriction is not of real use and that they should be able to work anywhere they want.

As far as I am concerned, I truly believe that the downsides of restricting the professionals clearly outweigh its benefits. Thus, I would totaly be in favour of a the free will approach.

First of all, it is undeniable that working in the country you first learned in is of several advantages. As a matter of fact, it is generaly concidered to be the most fair career choice. In other words, the county in which a professional learned his practice is the country that spent money covering his tution and overall education either partly or totally, as it depends on the policies that change from country to country. Moreover, working in the same country of the training one can favour local development of the associated fields.

However, considering only this perspective may overlook other important factors and lead to an incomplete understanding of the broader issue. In fact, some country could have over saturated career paths. For instance, a newly graduated professional may have very few working opportunities in the place he was trained at. A cause of this issue could be explained by the competitiveness of a field or the great number of other professionals which coul have graduated at the same time. On the other hand, even though the local field could be saturated, that is not necessarly the case in other places of the world. Hence, seeking work in other countries could represent the best option.

To conclude, even though at first glance working in the country in which a professional gained his first experience showed to have numerous upsides, it later became clear that such case is not always viable and other possiblities should be concidered.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and clearly states a personal position in the introduction. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic argument regarding training costs and the issue of job market saturation. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about 'local development' is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a concrete example. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed examples and ensure that your supporting arguments are fully explored rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'In other words', 'Moreover', and 'However' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from the benefits of staying to the necessity of mobility. While the paragraphing is appropriate, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive links to connect the ideas within paragraphs more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'oversaturated', 'competitiveness', and 'viable'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'generaly', 'concidered', 'tution', 'coul', and 'possiblities'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise academic collocations to elevate the tone of your writing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are persistent grammatical errors, such as 'a the free will approach', 'some country could have', and 'the same country of the training one can favour'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips in sentence construction. The majority of your sentences are understandable, and the errors do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are recurring issues in your writing.
