Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 155 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to discuss both sides of the argument, the points are repetitive and lack depth or specific examples. The student's own opinion is not clearly stated or developed. Due to the severe under-length and the lack of a clear, structured argument, the response only partially addresses the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with ideas presented in a fragmented manner. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas, making the text difficult to follow. The repetition of phrases like 'in our own country' and 'other countries' creates a disjointed flow. The overall arrangement is not sufficiently coherent to support a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic, high-frequency words and struggles to express more complex concepts related to professional migration or training. There are numerous spelling errors (e.g., 'expericence', 'oppurtunities', 'engenier') and word choice inaccuracies that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There is no evidence of less common or academic vocabulary appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of simple, repetitive sentence structures. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement, punctuation (e.g., 'don.t', 'don;t'), and sentence fragments. Complex sentence structures are absent. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read and understand, as the meaning is often obscured by poor syntax and grammatical inaccuracies.
