Student answer (Band 7.0)
Professionals carry a heavy weight of expectation from the people of their country. Many insists that skilled professional like engineers and doctors must serve their country while other believes in freedom of choice of the person. This essay will discuss both the view and present my opinion.
Countries allocate great amount of fund to the professional colleges in order to fulfil the technical and academic requirements of the institute. Since a country spends so much on the whole process of producing specialists, it seems fair to demand them to serve the country instead of going abroad. For example, Pakistan produces thousands of doctors every year still there is a lack of skilled professional in the field especially in the rural areas. There should be some regulations to promote keeping the talent in the country.
In the third world countries the career opportunities and chances of growth are limited. On the other side, specialists get good opportunities and payback in different foreign countries. As the professional studies are not free of cost and students spend their time, money and other resources to achieve their degree. Therefore, they believe it should be their personal choice to either stay in country or go. Additionally, Immigrant doctors and engineers are source of pride for the nation. Immigration of doctors to Canada has become many common these days as they offer competitive salaries and a good quality of life. Every person deserves best in their life.
In my opinion, every person should have freedom of choice, and they should be allowed to avail good opportunities. But this is also unfair that the entire cream of a country goes and serve another country. Governments should work on providing good opportunities to youth to keep the talent in their country.
In conclusion, Although, people are expected to serve their country it is ultimately personal choice what is best for their future. Government should make policies to attract youth by creating good work opportunities to encourage young talent to remain in the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic argument regarding state-funded education and the individual's right to pursue better opportunities. However, the development is somewhat uneven; while the first body paragraph is well-supported with the example of Pakistan, the second paragraph relies more on general statements. The position is consistent throughout, but the conclusion could have more effectively synthesized the arguments rather than simply restating the need for government policy. Overall, it meets the requirements for a Band 6.5, leaning towards 7.0 for its clear focus.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example', 'On the other side', and 'Additionally', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument. It demonstrates the features of a Band 6.5 response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'allocate', 'regulations', and 'competitive salaries'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'payback' instead of 'remuneration' or 'compensation', and 'many common' instead of 'much more common'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Many insists', 'other believes') and article usage ('in the third world countries'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'But this is also unfair that the entire cream of a country goes and serve another country.' Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the punctuation is mostly accurate. The control of grammar is sufficient for a Band 6.0, as the errors do not cause significant difficulty for the reader.
