Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, there has been considerable debate surrounding whether doctors and engineers should work in the country they did their training from or they should have the freedom of choice to work in another country. While some people argue that they should work for the citizens of the country they did their education from, others strongly believe in the freedom of choice. This essay will examine both views before concluding why I believe in a balanced approach.
People who believe in former view often argue that professional should work in their own countries. It is mainly because they understands local diseases. For instance, there are several diseases that are more common in Pakistan such as malaria, typhoid, and jaundice. The professionals who have completed their course from Pakistan would be appreciated to work in the same country because they understand the local diseases better. Hence, they can offers much better treatment to the effected citizens. Another important factor is local shortage of professionals. Developing countries lack professional doctors and engineers. Therefore, forcing them to stay protects citizens.
Conversely, people who support the opposite side believe that professionals must have freedom to chose in which country they want to work. One compelling reason for this is better opportunities. A clear example is that if the government of a certain country is offering better facilities and broaden professional opportunities, there are higher chances that the experts would prefer that country over others. On the other hand, personal freedom is a right of an individual. It is unethical to force a person to stay whether it is a doctor or engineer. Although both sides have merits, i truly support a modern view. For example, everyone should have freedom of choice and the government should offer better facilities to attract professionals.
In conclusion, although both views have valid arguments, I remain convinced that it is not appropriate to force someone to stay and work for a certain country. Moreover, the government can offer higher pay, better housing, better hospitals, research grants to attract the experts. As a result, this approach offers substantial long-term benefits to the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of local disease knowledge and the ethical argument regarding personal freedom. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument about 'local diseases' is a strong point, but it could have been expanded further to explain the broader impact on public health systems. The conclusion effectively synthesizes the arguments and offers a practical solution, which demonstrates a clear position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'In recent years', 'Conversely', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the use of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at using less common items like 'compelling reason' and 'substantial long-term benefits'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'effected citizens' (should be 'affected') and 'did their training from' (should be 'in'). While the range is sufficient to convey the message clearly, the lack of more sophisticated, precise vocabulary prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'professional should work', 'they understands') and preposition usage. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor slips throughout. The errors do not significantly impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of full control over complex structures. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the score.
