Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they did their training. Others believe they should be free to work in another country if they wish. A country full of professional and skillful people will progress day by day. More professionals create more advanced and smart ways to deal with different issues roaming in the country or in an organization.
Professionals, such as doctors and engineers, are actually an asset for a country. More doctors in a country deal with more patients of the same homeland. This will reduce the ratio of number of patients addressed by a single doctor. Also the patients are thoroughly checked. One expert doctor can find different cure to different infections, illness etc. Similarly engineers. More civil engineers bring more architectural support. More software engineers bring more IT work and play their part in wellness of the country wealth. If they wish to work for another country, government shall take into account this issue. Because, a talent going out of country shall be advantageous for another country he is going to, not for this homeland. But, if a country is fully developed then it must allow the individuals to go where they wish for. That will bring expertise in different areas in future.
Some people may also think of professionals as a burden in their countries. They think that more engineers and doctors required more jobs in the similar country they completed their training and so they have to return back to their countries. So native people always prioritize that person of their country shall be on that job. The big disadvantage of this aspect is growing rates of unemployment. I mention my friend here. He done his MBBBS from Kyrgyzstan but he was not offered job there, even he was willing to work in the same hospital, and after his graduation he was sent to this homeland. Our country is also a developing country and lacks jobs in different departments. He is not able to make to a job yet. 5 years of MBBS costs him a large amount of fee and now from 3 years he is unemployed.
In my opinion, a country must have to provide opportunities to the professionals without any race or priorities. The decisions shall be on merit. Skillful professionals shall be given more chances to use their skills and work for the welfare of the country and their people. More jobs for the professionals in different sectors of the same country from where they graduated or trained gives a positive gratitude to them and they will be eager to work with full devotion and sincerity for that country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of retaining professionals are discussed, the counter-argument regarding the freedom to work abroad is less thoroughly explored, focusing more on the issue of unemployment in the writer's home country. The example of the friend is relevant but occupies a large portion of the essay, which shifts the focus slightly away from the broader global debate. To reach a higher band, ensure that both perspectives are balanced with equal depth and that examples are used to support the argument rather than becoming the primary focus.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from the benefits of retention to the challenges of unemployment and finally to the writer's opinion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Similarly engineers', 'Also the patients'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the paragraph discussing the friend's experience. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow and coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific terminology like 'architectural support' and 'wellness of the country wealth', though some collocations are slightly unnatural or imprecise. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but there is a lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of control. To improve, the writer should focus on learning more precise collocations and academic phrases to express complex ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'more engineers and doctors required more jobs'), article usage, and verb tense consistency (e.g., 'He done his MBBBS'). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and practicing more complex sentence structures would be beneficial.
