Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that professionals such as Doctors or Engineers should pursue their career in the same country from where they had completed their education or training, while others believe that they should free to seek employment overseas. I support the latter view; however, both perspectives will be discussed in following paragraphs.
Supporters of first school of thoughts claim that migration leads to brain drain. To clarify, developing countries already face shortage of skilled workers. If professionals leave the country then healthcare and infrastructure sector of the nation have to suffer a lot. In addition, government has also invested in the education of doctors and engineers to provide them better skills and boost their knowledge. So, these professionals has to repay the country by providing their services to the natives.
While, critics of aforementioned view including me argue that everyone has freedom of choice. Its their own wish. They can decide themselve where they want to live or work. Government cannot restrict them to do so. Moreover, in overseas they can have better career opportunities. They can work with advanced technology, higher salaries and better working environment. This will help them to boost their skills and expertise in the specific field. Additionally, they will get international exposure.
In conclusion, professionals are required in country from where they get training and acquired knowledge to help the society, but I believe they have freedom to choose for themself that where they want to live or work. This will lead to global knowledge exchange and also respect their individual rights.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the concept of 'brain drain' and the benefits of international exposure. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about government investment could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reiterates the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth rather than just listing benefits or drawbacks.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'Supporters of first school of thoughts' (missing article) and 'critics of aforementioned view'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive devices to create a more natural, sophisticated structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'brain drain' and 'international exposure'. However, there are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'from where they had completed' instead of 'where they completed', and 'repay the country' which is slightly unnatural in this context. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is somewhat restricted, preventing a higher score. Focusing on more precise collocations and academic phrasing would enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('these professionals has to repay') and missing articles ('in country', 'in overseas'). Punctuation is mostly correct, but there are minor errors in sentence construction, such as 'While, critics of aforementioned view...'. The range of structures is sufficient, but the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More careful proofreading to address basic agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy.
