Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they completed there education, while others believe they should have the freedom work in any country they prefer. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe professionals should be free to choose where they work.
On the one hand, many people believe that professionals should remain in their home country after complete their training. The main reason is that governments spend a significant amount of money in education, especially in public universities, where students often receive financial support. Therefore, graduates should gives something back by serving their own nation. Another reason is that every country needs qualified professionals to improve essential publics services, such as healthcare and infrastructure. If a large number of doctors and engineers leave, hospitals may face a shortage for medical staff, and important development projects could delayed. For example, many developing countries struggle to provide quality healthcare because experienced doctors choose work overseas.
On the other hand, many people argue that professionals should be free to work abroad if they wish. Everyone has the right to decide where they want to build their career. In addition, developed countries usually offer higher salaries, better working conditions, more opportunities for professional growth. Working overseas also allows doctors and engineers to learn advanced technologies and gain a valuable international experience. For instance, a doctor working in the UK can improve medicine skills and later return home to introduce better treatment methods and train younger doctors.
In my opinion, professionals should have the freedom to work wherever they wish because career choice is a basic right. Instead of forcing them to stay, governments should encourage them by provide better salaries, modern facilities and attractive career opportunities. This would motivate more skilled professionals to remain home country voluntarily.
In conclude, although requiring professionals to work in their home country can benefit society and repay the government's investment in education, I believe they should be free to work wherever they choose. Instead of making it compulsory for them to stay, governments should improve salaries and working conditions to encourage them remain in their own country

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, particularly the arguments regarding government investment and the benefits of international experience. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more nuanced examples or explore the implications of these policies further. The structure is logical, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while reinforcing the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'For instance' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there is some minor repetition in the use of transition words, and the referencing could be slightly more varied to improve the flow. Overall, the text is coherent, and the relationship between ideas is clear throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, with some good topic-specific collocations like 'essential public services', 'professional growth', and 'advanced technologies'. There are a few minor errors, such as 'publics services' (should be 'public services') and 'medicine skills' (should be 'medical skills'). The range is sufficient to convey complex ideas clearly. To improve, the student should focus on more precise word choices and avoid minor grammatical slips that affect lexical accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several recurring grammatical errors, such as 'completed there education' (should be 'their'), 'should gives something' (should be 'give'), and 'could delayed' (should be 'could be delayed'). These errors do not impede communication but occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The student should pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice constructions.
