Student answer (Band 6.0)

While some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers should only work in the country where they studied, others argue that they should have the freedom to decide where to work. While I acknowledge that graduates from important careers are necessary in their native countries, I agree with the latter opinion because, being able to work in other country can help people improve their quality of life and financial status.

On the one hand, professionals in critical sectors play a crucial role in social and economic development. Many sectors such as science and medicine need highly qualified professionals who can effectively perform their role and help companies improtheir services and revenue. As a result, residents benefit from high-quality services and products developed by these individuals. For instance, professionals in medicine can help improve the healthcare system, while scientists develop may develop effective medicines and medical tratments. This helps improve people's quality of life, while also contributing to economic development.

On the other hand, others argue that graduates should be allowed to decide wheather to work in a foreign country country. Many people want to immigrate to another country because they often offer better quality of life, working conditions and higher salaries, especially developed countries. Consequently, many professionals decide to move abroad in pursue of a better life, allowing them to achieve financial stability while also having access to a more efficient healthcare service.

In my view, requiring professionals in their native countries can have significant social and economic benefits. However, graduates should be free to work in a foreign country if they wish, as it not only helps them rise their standard of living but also their quality of life. Besides this, they can ultimately return later to their native country and continue to practice their profession.

In conclusion, although working in one's country can contribute to a nation's social and economic progress, having the freedom to choose wheather work in another country can also bring several personal benefits Therefore, by respecting people's decisions and allowing them practice whenever they wish to work, professionals will contribute to societies regardless of where they work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, although some arguments could be further extended with more specific examples. For instance, while you mention that professionals contribute to economic development, providing a concrete example of how a specific country has benefited from its returning professionals would have strengthened your argument. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' effectively to guide the reader. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the phrase 'requiring professionals in their native countries' in the fourth paragraph is slightly awkward and lacks a clear object. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally smooth, making the essay easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'critical sectors', 'financial stability', and 'social and economic progress'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'improtheir' (improve their), 'tratments' (treatments), and 'wheather' (whether). Additionally, there are minor collocation errors, such as 'rise their standard of living' (should be 'raise') and 'in pursue of' (should be 'in pursuit of'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication, and you successfully attempt to use a variety of topic-specific language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures throughout the essay. While you show good control over basic grammar, there are several persistent errors, such as 'allowing them practice' (should be 'allowing them to practice') and 'wheather work' (should be 'whether to work'). Punctuation is generally correct, but there are occasional slips, such as the missing period after 'personal benefits' in the final paragraph. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear, and the grammatical range is sufficient to convey your arguments effectively.
