Student answer (Band 5.5)

A professional is someone who can do his best work.

Some people believe that professionals should be required to work in country where they did their training such as doctor and engineers, and some people think they should be free to work in another country if they wish. This essay will discuss both perspective before presenting my own view.

Those who believe that every professional have right to do work in any country they think positively because everyone has own wish.On one hand, if the doctors and engineers have the opportunity to work the out of country. They must to go. Because work on international level gives you the experience and confidence. Some professionals do their training in their home country and go abroad for job. This is proud moment for country their professionals work and serve on another country. They bring the glory to the country.

On the other hand, everything has its consequences. If the professionals go to abroad after the training their home country lose the professional. Doctors and engineers is very necessary for the country. Every country needs the expert. Country needs the expert doctors because when the foreigner come to the country for cure its pride moment for their country. So doctors and engineers should work in their own country and give the benefit to home country and the expert engineers work in abroad their home country also needs the expert engineers to built the buildings and roads etc.

i conclude with my own experience, Everyone should have right to work in any country. Every professional need the better opportunity for living the better life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, the argument regarding the 'pride' of a country when professionals work abroad is mentioned twice without clear elaboration. The essay lacks specific examples or deeper analysis of the economic or social implications of 'brain drain' versus 'global mobility'. While the position is clear, the supporting points are somewhat superficial and lack the depth required for a higher band score. The introduction is also slightly disjointed, and the conclusion is brief.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While transition words like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, they are not always followed by coherent arguments. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'They must to go', where the antecedent for 'They' is ambiguous. The flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making the text feel somewhat disjointed. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate distinct ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Words like 'professional', 'country', 'expert', and 'work' are used frequently throughout the text. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'for cure' instead of 'for medical treatment' or 'built the buildings' instead of 'construct infrastructure'. The range is sufficient to convey the general meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher score. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall lexical range is limited.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('every professional have right', 'Doctors and engineers is'), missing articles ('in country', 'work in abroad'), and incorrect verb forms ('They must to go'). While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often faulty. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops and capital letters after commas. The frequency of these errors is high, which significantly impacts the overall quality of the writing.
