Student answer (Band 6.0)

Doctors and Engineers are the most recognizable professionals in the modern era. Some individuals argue that these professionals should work in the country where they did their training, while others oppose it by explaining they should be given free will to work in another countries as well. In my opinion, although doctors and engineers have their right to work in different countries, they should also try to focus on helping their own country citizens.

On the one hand, doctors and engineers should provide their experience and services to the country where they did their training. Their experience and knowledge may support and encourage the younger generations of their country to select their future goals. Moreover, these professions may participate in providing recognition to the country, involving in the optimization process of country's overall employment, development and economy. For instance, doctors and engineers working in their own country may provide improvement in their particular sectors by generating innovative ideas and supporting countries overall growth.

On the other hand, critics argue that these professionals should also be allowed to work in different countries. Resources play an essential part here, if other countries are providing advanced technology and resources and if they are interested to gain more experience through that resources, allowance of working in different countries should be approved. For example, if other countries are providing advanced equipment to doctors for their operations and technology to engineers for their projects, these professionals should be allowed to work in those countries to gain more knowledge and share it for future good. Furthermore, another country may offer more amount of salary that attracts these individuals to work there.

In conclusion, most of the doctors and professionals should be given their own choice to work where they prefer. A balanced approach would help the countries and professionals as well to support their role in advancements and betterment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of local contribution versus the professional development gained abroad. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; for example, the points regarding 'experience' and 'knowledge' are mentioned in both body paragraphs without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, concrete examples rather than general statements about 'innovative ideas' or 'advanced technology'. The position is consistent, but the arguments could be more deeply explored to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there is occasional awkwardness in the flow of ideas. For instance, the transition between the discussion of resources and salary in the third paragraph is abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow and coherence of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'optimization process', 'innovative ideas', and 'advanced equipment'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'involving in the optimization process' (should be 'involved in') and 'if they are interested to gain' (should be 'interested in gaining'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the use of less common lexical items is somewhat limited and occasionally imprecise. Expanding your range of collocations and refining word forms would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'another countries' (should be 'other countries'), 'supporting countries overall growth' (missing possessive apostrophe), and 'more amount of salary' (should be 'higher salary'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
