Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent decades, a discussion is growing significantly among the people about the migration of the professionals, some people argue that every professional such as doctors and engineers should stay in their country where they learned their skills but some people thought that it a better idea to move to any country if we get a good opportunity. This essay will discuss both viewpoints for some reasons.
On one hand, people argue that loyal professionals always serve their nation in every type of circumstances because they got their studies from that country and also the basic training so now they want a professional to serve that nation. For example, in some developed countries, professionals serve their whole carrier to their nation even at minimum wage and they usually show their loyalty with their nation because their nation gave them a lot when they had nothing.
On the other hand, some people believe that a well trained professional should grab any opportunity to earn a better living because sometimes they never find a good job in their home country or the country where they got their professional degree. For instance, in many underdeveloped countries, many experts are moving to the foreign countries because of the unavailability of the jobs or under-paying job is also a major factor for their migration.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with the second type of people because of their strong arguments, however, the first type of people are also correct because their arguments are also very strong.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both viewpoints and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding 'loyalty' is repetitive, and the discussion on migration lacks depth regarding the economic or social impacts. The conclusion is also weak; stating that both sides are 'correct' without synthesizing the arguments or clearly justifying why the second view is preferred makes the position feel slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples and ensure your personal opinion is integrated more logically into the essay's structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition between the idea of 'loyalty' and the example of 'minimum wage' is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'the second type of people' in the conclusion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically builds upon the previous one would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'serve their nation' and 'strong arguments'. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'serve their whole carrier' (should be 'career') and 'learned their skills' (more naturally 'acquired their skills'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to economics, professional development, and globalization, and focus on using more precise synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'a discussion is growing significantly among the people' (should be 'there is a growing discussion'), 'they got their studies from that country' (should be 'they completed their studies'), and 'the first type of people are also correct' (should be 'the first viewpoint is also valid'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and article usage.
