Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate on whether professionals like doctors and engineers, should be free to work anywhere. Some people think that they should practice in the country where they have received their training, while others argue that they should have open ended choices. This essay will discuss both sides before presenting my opinion in favor of the later point.
On one hand, people say that doctors and engineers should be restricted to work in the country, where they are trained. The primary reason behind this perspective is that they are more familiar with specific issues of that country and are trained accordingly which could be misfit for other nations. For example, engineers design and construct buildings based on geological patterns, atmospheric conditions, and cultural aspects of a country.
On the other hand, some people argue that doctors and engineers should be allowed to work in any country according to their wish and convenience. They should not be restricted to one country, as it will limit their career options as well as will affect their productivity. Moreover, numerous countries have specialists of certain medical problems, by allowing them to work freely, they can provide their services all around the world.
In my opinion, although professionals are well aware of challenges that a country have because they are trained there, restricting them to a region is not justified for their professional development. In addition, aforementioned challenge can be addressed by providing them special short trainings according to a specific area before allowing them to work there.
In conclusion, professional should be allowed to work freely according to their desire without considering where they are trained.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of geological patterns for engineers and the global need for medical specialists. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments could be strengthened with more specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the point about 'short trainings' is a good suggestion but remains underdeveloped. The position is consistent throughout the essay, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, but it leans towards 6.5 due to the brevity of the supporting arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the phrase 'aforementioned challenge' is slightly awkward in its placement. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the essay maintains a coherent structure throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'geological patterns', 'atmospheric conditions', and 'professional development'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'open ended choices' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'misfit' (which should be 'a poor fit' or 'unsuitable'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score. The student successfully avoids repetition, but the word choice remains somewhat functional rather than precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'a country have' (subject-verb agreement), 'professional should be' (missing plural), and 'in favor of the later point' (should be 'latter'). Punctuation is generally correct, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as in 'the country, where they are trained'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur with enough frequency to prevent a higher score. The control of complex structures is present but not entirely error-free.
