Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people are convinced that doctors and engineers are obligated to continue their professional expertise in the country where they received their degree while some proportion of individuals believe that they ought to work wherever they desire. This essay will discuss both of these views and provide my own opinion on the topic.
On the one hand, education systems vary in many different countries. The materials provided in a foreign country are usually adapted to structures, infrastructure and development level of the country. Hence, the same system, machine usage or soft skills might not prove to be useful in less developed places. For example, a doctor doing their training using a cutting-edge technology might not be able to illustrate his full expertise in a third-world country.
On the other hand, a significant number of talented people leave their hometowns, hoping to find better learning opportunities abroad. After finishing their well-rounded education, their main aim is to go back to reunite with their families and contribute to their own nation. Conversely, people doing a degree in less developed countries tend to seek for work opportunities abroad, where they can earn a considerably higher salaries, be provided with several benefits, such as health insurance and various memberships.
In conclusion, education can assumably be more up-to-date and useful in the country where the subjects were taught. However, a number of people prefer to continue their careers in their mainland or pursue opportunities overseas. I personally believe that everyone has the right to make their own choices, especially when it concerns their long-term work and future life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the adaptation of training to local infrastructure is relevant, but the second body paragraph is slightly disjointed, shifting between students returning home and those seeking higher salaries abroad without fully connecting these points to the core prompt. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The essay covers all parts of the task well, but the depth of analysis is limited, which is characteristic of a band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Hence', and 'Conversely' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the transition between the ideas in the second body paragraph is slightly abrupt, and the referencing could be more precise. Overall, the flow of ideas is logical and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally appropriate and sufficient for the task. You use some good collocations like 'professional expertise', 'cutting-edge technology', and 'well-rounded education'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'continue their professional expertise' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'earn a considerably higher salaries' (grammatical error). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on more precise word choices and ensure that collocations are used accurately to convey your meaning more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'earn a considerably higher salaries' (article/plurality mismatch) and 'continue their careers in their mainland' (preposition/word choice). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You have a good grasp of sentence construction, but more attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage would enhance the accuracy of your writing. The range of structures is adequate, but more variety in complex sentence forms would be beneficial.
