Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argue that Some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they did their training, while others believe that they should be free to work in another country if they wish.Although both perspective have their merits,I believe that professional should have freedom to work in another country.

On the hand, those who argue that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country believe that this can benefit local population. This is largely because government often spend a significant amount of money on the education or training of doctors or engineers, which enable them to become highly skilled professionals. For example,if a country provides free or subsidised medical education,it may expect from doctor to serve citizens after completing their training.

On the other hand, proponents of allowing professionals to work abroad argue that individuals should have the freedom to choose where they want to build their career. This is because other countries may offer better salaries, working condition and oppurtunities for professional development. For instance, working in another country can help peoples to learn new skills and gain experience.

From my perspective, although both argument have some validity, allowing professional to work another country is more convincing. This is primarily because people should have rights to take their own decisions about their career and future. In addition, professional who move to abroad can gain more knowledge about in their profession and can help their country juniors.

In conclusion, while some people support that professionals should be required to work in the country and others favours allowing them to work abroad,I believe that giving professionals freedom to choose their workplace is more effective approach due to its long-term benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of government investment in education and the personal benefits of working abroad. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive, and the development could be more nuanced. For instance, the point about helping 'country juniors' is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more specific examples or deeper analysis rather than just stating the benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'This is primarily because', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some issues with mechanical cohesion, such as the repetitive use of the prompt's phrasing in the introduction and some awkward transitions. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to avoid a slightly disjointed feel. Paragraphing is used appropriately to structure the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'subsidised medical education' and 'professional development'. However, there are several word-choice errors and inaccuracies, such as 'It is often argue' (should be 'argued'), 'peoples' (should be 'people'), and 'move to abroad' (should be 'move abroad'). The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. Improving collocation and avoiding basic grammatical errors in word forms would enhance the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('professional should have', 'both argument have') and article usage ('the country', 'a country'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas in several places. While the writer attempts complex sentences, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for these recurring errors would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of the writing.
