Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the argument, the ideas are significantly underdeveloped and lack depth. The arguments provided, such as 'training is much important before job', are repetitive and lack specific, logical support. The student's own opinion is mentioned in the introduction but is not clearly articulated or sustained throughout the body paragraphs. The conclusion is vague and does not effectively summarise the main points or provide a clear final stance. To improve, the student needs to expand on their arguments with concrete examples and ensure the response meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as 'To explain it' and 'moreover', which are often used incorrectly or inappropriately. The referencing is frequently confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logic. For instance, the transition between the importance of training and the benefits of working abroad is abrupt. The lack of clear topic sentences and logical flow between sentences within paragraphs hinders the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic words like 'important', 'work', and 'job'. There is a lack of precision, and the student struggles to express complex ideas due to a restricted range of vocabulary. Phrases like 'success the life' and 'work man' are non-standard and indicate a lack of awareness of collocation and appropriate word choice. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to professional migration and education, as well as synonyms to avoid constant repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'training is the important before work'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, such as 'The major conclusion that can be both points is much important'. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and word order make the text difficult to read.
