Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should work in the country where they did their training others argue that this is not the case. Both the scenes are discussed below.
On the one hand, it is argued that doctors and engineers must work in the country where they did their training as it is a familiar environment for them. It helps them to serve their country instead of letting talent slip out of the country. If it is a foreign country it helps them to gain global exposure and earn better income.
On the other hand, it is argued that doctors and engineers should be free to work in another country of their interest; which is absolutely true in my perspective. Many people have strong ties to their homeland and move abroad to pursue their professional practice. Once they complete their training they would like to move back to their country or any other country as they like.
They have the right to work in any country they wish after finishing their training. It is their decision to choose where to work. A person cannot be kept in any country without their will. Furthermore, the person gets to choose the place where they want to work. Significant amount of people would want to work oversees as they will have better opportunities. For example, Canada lacks doctors in the healthcare sectors hence people from other countries would work for Canada which help the country grow and benefit doctors.
In conclusion, I believe that professionals must be free to work in another country instead of forcing to work where they did their training.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding professionals staying in their home country is brief and lacks depth. The example provided about Canada is relevant but could be expanded to better illustrate the global benefits of professional mobility. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments are somewhat repetitive, particularly in the third paragraph, where the focus on 'right to work' is restated multiple times without adding new dimensions to the discussion. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced explanations for each perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the phrase 'it is argued that' is used at the start of almost every paragraph, which makes the flow feel a bit formulaic. Additionally, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. While the overall progression of ideas is clear, the essay would benefit from a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to connect sentences more fluidly and reduce the reliance on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic terminology. Phrases like 'letting talent slip out' and 'significant amount of people' are functional but lack the precision expected at higher levels. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'scenes' instead of 'views' or 'perspectives' in the introduction. To improve, you should incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to professional migration, labor markets, and economic development to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues. For example, the first sentence is a run-on, and the semicolon usage in the third paragraph is incorrect. There are also minor errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'work oversees' (should be 'overseas') and 'forcing to work' (should be 'being forced to work'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will be beneficial.
