Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few individuals think that working professionals, such as doctors and engineers should work in the country where they did their training while others believe that they can work where ever they want to as per their desires. This essay will discuss both the views and explain why i believe that professionals should have freedom to work where ever they choose.

On the one hand, certain people think that professional should work where they have completed their training, because professionals such as doctors and engineers have enough knowledge of rules and regulations from their respective country where they have completed their entire training. For instance, engineers have to built the buildings as per government guidelines and laws whereas, doctors have to prescribe the patient according to the medicines which are available and made in the country.

On the other hand, other individuals believe that working professionals should have freedom to work in multiple countries if they wish, because after the completion of their entire course they need to built their career and have to gain experience in their respective fields. different countries have different rules and regulations which will help them to gain enough knowledge of their specific fields. In contrast, many individuals wish to move from their country to abroad because of per capita income and the economy of the country which does not give hike in their professions.

In conclusions, I believe that professionals should be free to work in multiple countries which will help them to gain knowledge and experience. Governments should encourage them to stay through attractive opportunities rather than restrictions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'rules and regulations' is repetitive, and the point about 'per capita income' is introduced abruptly without sufficient explanation of how it relates to the broader debate. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, well-integrated examples, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The position is consistent, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly explored to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'For instance', and 'In contrast' are used to signal shifts in the argument. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition from discussing professional development to economic factors in the second body paragraph is abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'regulations', 'per capita income', and 'professions'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'have to built' (should be 'have to build') and 'does not give hike in their professions'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a lack of precision. To improve, the writer should focus on using more varied and precise collocations related to professional mobility and economic concepts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'professionals... should work' (missing article), 'have to built' (incorrect verb form), and 'prescribe the patient according to the medicines' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the unnecessary comma after 'whereas'. The errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, although they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended message. More attention to verb tense consistency and article usage is required.
