Student answer (Band 5.5)
People believe that professionals like doctors and engineers should work in their home countries to serve the public. And it is not wrong at some extent but others believe that they have the right and power of choosing their path. They are free to work in another country if it benefits them. In my opinion i prefer to work in another country because it will be beneficial for my future as well as for my personal experience. Those who choose to get training and live their lives in their home country and serve to public will have a hard time in future because of there lack of experience in different states. I will use a example to illustrate my point. Those who have build their resume and have been in the field for years and worked in different countries have more experience and knowledge but on the other hand who lived there lives in their specific position and just wanted to get promotions may have knowledge and experience but not the same confidence and experience as the one who build their own personal brands and specialized in their fields. People sometimes suggest to others to live and work in their communities to serve and protect their families and the public. Which is somehow not right because it will not enhance the quality and integrity of the project. In conclusion i will say both of the views are valid. If the circumstances made you choose between the options choose the one that will benefit you in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'experience' and 'personal brands' are somewhat vague and lack specific, well-explained examples. The reasoning is repetitive, and the essay fails to explore the complexities of the issue, such as the 'brain drain' phenomenon or the ethical obligations of professionals. The position is clear, but the supporting points are under-developed, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, consisting of one large block of text. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. While there are some cohesive devices used, such as 'on the other hand' and 'in conclusion', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The flow between sentences is disjointed, and the lack of paragraphing significantly impacts the logical organization of the response. To improve, you should separate your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion clearly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'have a hard time' and 'not right' are informal and lack the precision expected in an academic essay. There are some attempts at more sophisticated language, such as 'integrity' and 'specialized', but these are not always used in the correct context. The range is limited, and the essay would benefit from more varied and precise terminology related to professional development and global mobility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'who lived there lives'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'a example'), and misuse of prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures, which limits the score.
