Student answer (Band 6.0)
In a contemporary society, the issue of professionals' freedom on country of work has sparked a considerable debate. While a segment of the society hold the view that they should work on the countries they trained in others emphasize that they should be free to work in another country if they wish. This essay will examine both views before I elaborate my opinion.
On the one hand, proponents of the former argument believe that professionals like doctors and engineers should be free to work in another nation if they wish. One justification for this is that it widens the job market of these amazing professions. For example, in 2020 Cuban doctors who were unemployed in their were given opportunities to work in Kenya during covid pandemic. Furthermore, free brain drain promotes innovation and professional growth. For instance if professions from different countries work together they will tend to exchange their skills and innovations hence increasing professional growth and experience.
Nevertheless, another school of thought believes that professionals like doctors and engineers should work locally without any chance of brain drain and external opportunities. The underling rationale is that such professions are useful for a country and its economic growth. For example ,doctors and engineers earn enormous salaries and they use those money to build the nation.
In my opinion, I believe that professions like doctors and engineers should be given a chance to work in other countries because of the benefits it has for an individual and the government at large.
In summary, although both views has their own merits, I believe that engineers and doctors should be allowed to work in another countries as it is more beneficial in the long term.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic benefits of local work is underdeveloped; the claim that doctors and engineers 'use those money to build the nation' is vague and lacks sufficient explanation or specific evidence. While the example of Cuban doctors in Kenya is relevant, the overall depth of the discussion remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' behind your points, ensuring that each argument is fully supported with logical reasoning rather than just stating the benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Nevertheless,' and 'In summary' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the phrase 'those money' which lacks a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the flow. Overall, the structure is functional and supports the development of the essay effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'brain drain,' 'job market,' and 'professional growth.' However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'freedom on country of work' instead of 'freedom regarding their country of work' and 'use those money' instead of 'use that money' or 'use those funds.' The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more natural phrasing would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'both views has their own merits' (should be 'have') and 'professions from different countries work together they will tend to' (missing a comma after the conditional clause). Additionally, there are minor punctuation errors, such as the space before the comma in 'For example ,doctors'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over complex structures will be key.
