Student answer (Band 5.5)

Professional doctors and engineers play a very important role in the development of an economy. It is very important that a country has more of these skilled workers and to achieve this a country should have good quality of education and beside this training should be accessible to them. But some people believe that they should be limited to the country where they got training which should improve the quality of healthcare faculties there. While some believe they should have free will related to where they work. But I believe that doctors should have free will.

On one hand, there are many reasons to support that doctors and engineers should work in country they get training. If they migrate after graduation then this may harm that country's economy as that country may become short of these workers which might make healthcare expensive and even people of that country might have to travel to other country to get good healthcare faculties. For example, a person may have a disease whose cure may have that doctor who qualified from that country but has migrated to other country.

However, some arguments suggest that they should have complete freedom over their choice of place on work. Firstly, if they work in other country then they may bring expertise from that country to the home country, for example engineer may bring new innovations and techniques in work which may overall improve work in home countr.

In my opinion, worker should have freedom as if not then worker may be demotivated oer work and may compromise over work or may not work effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of migration is mentioned but not fully explored with sufficient depth. The example provided about a patient needing a specific doctor is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or more sophisticated examples. The conclusion is also quite brief and could be better integrated into the overall structure of the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On one hand', 'However', and 'Firstly' to link your points. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'that doctor who qualified from that country'). To improve, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices and ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another rather than feeling like a list of separate points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'work in the country' and 'good healthcare faculties'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'healthcare faculties' (which likely means 'facilities') and 'oer work' (a typo). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to professional migration and economic development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in country', 'to other country'), pluralisation, and word order. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'a person may have a disease whose cure may have that doctor'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall fluency of the text. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your score.
