Student answer (Band 5.5)

In these days, some people think that the professional doctors and engineers should practice in the same country where they got the training and education, while others argue that they should be allowed to work freely in any country. We will discuss both scenarios before I come to the point that why I think that these professionals should work from where their previous experience is linked.

First of all, when the professionals have done their training from a specific country, they already have a natural connection with the place and the people. Working in the same country would be more convenient for them and they would be able to give their best as their previous training and experience would be very much related to the current field. Such as if a mechanical engineer working on Toyota workshop decides to move to a country where Tesla is more popular, he would be facing a lot of issue as he has no experience working with electric cars and vice versa.

On the other hand, some people believe that it's okay if professionals want to mave to another country. There maybe some positive aspects such as they may find a higher salary or they may get a better lifestyle. But they may also find number of diffculties such as learning new language, adjusting into new environment and working on something they have no experience with.

In my opinion, it should always one's personal preference weather he/she wants to work from native country or move somewhere else.

In conclusion, both of the scenarios have their pros and cons but I personally believe that professionals should work from the country where they have trained from in order to have a smoother work experience and avoid unnecessary hectics.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing an opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding the 'natural connection' to a country is a good starting point, but the example of a mechanical engineer moving to a Tesla workshop is slightly narrow and does not fully capture the complexities of professional migration. Furthermore, there is a contradiction between the introduction, which promises to argue for staying in the country of training, and the body paragraph where you state it should be 'one's personal preference'. This inconsistency weakens the clarity of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the transition between the body paragraphs and the opinion section is abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple, mechanical transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'work in the country' and 'work from the country'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'avoid unnecessary hectics' (a non-standard use of 'hectic' as a noun) and 'weather' instead of 'whether'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to professional mobility and international labor markets.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'In these days' (should be 'Nowadays'), 'done their training from' (should be 'received their training in'), and 'mave' (spelling error). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and preposition choice, such as 'working on Toyota workshop'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
