Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding government subsidies is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a concrete example. The second body paragraph touches on the reasons for migration, such as salary and lifestyle, but the explanation remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and specific, illustrative examples rather than just mentioning them in passing. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', to link your points. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'According to formal part will be discussed'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the flow of the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence connects smoothly to the next to create a more natural and sophisticated flow throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items like 'conspicuous', 'upsurge', and 'subsidized'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'individual expertise... should practice' (should work) and 'cream skills' (highly skilled professionals). There are also minor spelling and grammatical errors, such as 'foe' instead of 'for' and 'Develpoing'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over vocabulary and better proofreading to ensure accuracy in word usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('leave land', 'take some necessary step'), subject-verb agreement issues ('pupil do not get paid'), and awkward phrasing ('Following will be covering both viewpoint'). While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain errors that make the writing feel disjointed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly article usage and pluralisation, before attempting more complex structures. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences is essential for moving to a higher band.
