Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have different views about whether doctors and engineers should be required to work in the country where they received their training or they should be free to work in another country if they wish. While there are valid arguments in favour of both perspectives, I believe that if these professionals can find opportunities in developed countries, they should be free to work there mainly because this can help them to improve their circumstances.

On the one hand, supporters of the view that doctors and engineers should be required to work in the country where they received their training argue that the country has invested significant resources to invest in their education. This is mainly because country expect that these professionals are work in their country and provide services to the local people. For example, Government medical and engineering universities are operated using public funds. So it is the national duty of these professionals to work here. Therefore, there is some justification for preferring this appraoch.

On the other hand , those who believe that they should be free to work in another country if they wish believe that developed countries provide you higher salaries and more opportunities. This is largely because these professionals are in high demand in developed countries. Additionally, doctors and engineers are the pillar of thedevelopment of any country.

Personally, I am more convinced that if these professionals can find better opportunities in developed countries, they should be free to work. One reason of this is that this can help them to improve their quality life and fulfuil their ambitions. For instance, If doctor's wages are more in developed countries than they should go there and earn more.

In conclusion, both views have their own merits. I believe that they should be free if they have the opportunity is the more better position because as this can help them to improve the quality of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding public funding is relevant but could be expanded with more depth. The personal opinion is clear, but the supporting reasons, such as 'improve their quality life', are slightly repetitive and lack detailed elaboration. The response covers all parts of the prompt, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a band 6 level, as some points are under-developed and the conclusion is somewhat simplistic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the phrasing in the final paragraph: 'I believe that they should be free if they have the opportunity is the more better position'. While the overall structure is coherent, the management of cohesion is not always smooth or sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'justification' and 'ambitions'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the more better position' and 'the pillar of thedevelopment'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a limited range of vocabulary and a lack of precision in word usage, which is characteristic of a band 6 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'country expect that these professionals are work' and 'If doctor's wages are more... than they should go'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. The frequency of these errors, while not preventing understanding, indicates that the writer does not have full control over complex structures, keeping the score in the band 6 range.
