Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individuals argue that professionals like doctors or engineers should work in the country where they have completed their trainning, while others claim that there are no boundaries for them. Though they have some responsibilities to their countries or from where they have taken degrees, I believe their should not be any limitations regarding their work places.

There are several reasons why there should not be any boundaries for professionals. One possible reason is that they have their own choices and no one should violate this. If they get opportunities to work outside of their countries, we should encourage them and allow them to pursue their dreams. Thus, they will feel relax and able to focus on their tasks which will be beneficial for their nations. Because, if they migrate to foreign countries, they will earn money and send remittance to their home countries. So, the economy will boost which can develop the quality of the countries people. If professionals have no boundaries for working, they will feel more comportable which will enhance their productivity. Another reason is that if the government allow them to go abroad , they could gain more knowledge. For example, when my elder brother went to the UK for his career, they was not very efficient because in our country the lab facilities are not that much good as in the UK. But, after working their as a lab assistant now he his more productive since he has gained a lot of skills by working.

Despite the above arguments, I believe that professionals have some responsibilities towards their country. So, if they can stay in their home country or where they have taken their training, their nations will be benefited. For instance, if doctors those are very good at medicine stay in their home country, they can provide better treatment to the poor people. Thus, the trust of public on doctors and medical sectors will increase. Professionals have some accountability to their family memebers and relatives as well. So, if they stay in their home country, they wlll able to spend a lot of quality time with their families.

In conclusion, though there are some negative aspects of leaving country for career purposes, I believe the positive aspects of it outweigh its drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the issue and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic benefits of remittances and the professional development gained abroad. However, some arguments are slightly under-developed; for instance, the point about 'feeling comfortable' is vague. While the position is clear, the development of the counter-argument regarding national responsibility could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'One possible reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the shift between the brother's experience and the broader economic argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'remittance', 'productivity', and 'accountability'. However, there are several spelling errors ('trainning', 'comportable', 'memebers') and minor word choice issues ('feel relax' instead of 'feel relaxed'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band score. Improving spelling and using more varied collocations would enhance the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('they was not very efficient', 'he his more productive') and awkward phrasing ('if the government allow them'). Punctuation is mostly functional, but there are some errors with comma placement. The student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the frequency of errors prevents the writing from being considered consistently accurate. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical slips is recommended.
