Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 146 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples. The position is mentioned in the introduction but is not clearly articulated or sustained throughout the text. Due to the significant under-length and the lack of a conclusion, the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization by using 'On one hand' to introduce the first viewpoint. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present but the second paragraph is poorly structured, and there is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences effectively. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the vague use of 'that' and 'which' to connect ideas, making the flow of the argument disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'maga scratcher' (likely intended as 'mega structures') and 'brigs' (bridges). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with any precision or flexibility. Basic terms are used, and the lack of control over word formation and spelling significantly impacts the clarity of the message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'numbers of individual believe'), missing articles (e.g., 'in country'), and incorrect sentence structure (e.g., 'this essay discuss about both views'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misplaced commas and spaces. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in almost every line, which prevents the demonstration of complex grammatical control.
