Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people thing or believe that professionals such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they did their training. While others believe they should be free to work in another country if they wish.

I think all the people in the world should be free to work anywhere, anyplace they wish to. Restricting them to a certain premises can cause them a severe damage to their mental health. It is also not bad or illegal to work in the country where we have done our training, working in the same country can make people ease to communicate and work peacefully.

In contrast with the above statements there is a probability that people can connect and understand the culture and people from different countries. This interactions among different people, develop an intellectual skill to understand the situations and work accordingly.

There are some countries in the world where the talented people does not get opportunities to prove themselves, so many of the talented people migrate to other countries in search of opportunities. For example: if a person wants to work in a high ranked entity, he should be able to communicate with each other in the company. Working in other countries provide this privilege, by connecting with each other.

In conclusion, it is good to work in the country where we have done our training, but working in other countries provide a wider opportunities and improve our connectivity with different people all across the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'mental health' is mentioned but not fully explained, and the point about 'intellectual skills' is vague. The essay meets the minimum length requirement, but the arguments lack depth and specific, well-integrated examples. To improve, you should expand on your points with more concrete reasoning or real-world illustrations to ensure the reader fully understands the implications of your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. Transitions between ideas, such as 'In contrast with the above statements', are a bit clunky. The logical progression is present but sometimes feels disjointed, particularly in the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows naturally into the next would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'cause them a severe damage' and 'make people ease to communicate'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary appropriate for a formal essay, while ensuring that your word choices are grammatically accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Some people thing or believe', 'talented people does not get', and 'working in other countries provide'. These subject-verb agreement errors and article misuse are noticeable. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and pluralisation.
