Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the recent times, it has been argued that specialists such as doctors and engineers must be needful to work in the nation in which trainings took place. However, some it is believed that individuals are liberated to be employed in regions wherever one desires. For the situation, there can benefit, however, the drawbacks cannot be denied. it can be disadvantageous when more professionals leave the country which can lead to shortage of skilled labour. On the Other hand, people would benefit from high remuneration.

To commence with shortage of labour which can be caused by skilled professionals leaving the country for other employment. For instance, Burundi has faced the shortage of blow minding doctors due to expatriatism. AS a result, when more professionals leave the country, it led to shortage of employees. Therefore, less skilled employees can impact the nation's economy.

Another perspective that cannot be denied is professionals would benefit from high renumeration when working for a country with better benefits of employment policy. For example, when my cousin who is an engineer went to Canada for job, he received high salary than he used to receive while working in our country. Consequently, having freedom to work anywhere can be beneficial to skilled employees. Therefore, professionals should be deliberate to work in a country desired.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that professionals should be free to choose their employment location status regardless the country as it would be beneficial for such individuals as well as the nation. Moreover, Anyone must be free while selecting employment status.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on the 'shortage of labour' is repetitive, and the example of Burundi is mentioned without sufficient elaboration on how the policy of mandatory service would specifically resolve the issue. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more depth in your reasoning and ensure that your examples directly support the arguments presented rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'For the situation' and 'To commence with' are used incorrectly or sound unnatural. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition between the problem of labor shortages and the impact on the economy is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and contains several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choice. Examples include 'must be needful', 'blow minding', and 'renumeration' (a misspelling of remuneration). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision often hinders the clarity of your message. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to professional migration and employment, and ensure you are using words in their correct context. Expanding your range of vocabulary beyond basic terms will help you convey your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, including issues with article usage ('the shortage of labour'), subject-verb agreement ('it led to shortage'), and sentence structure ('some it is believed that'). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by errors that can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
