Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the same country where they did their traning. Others believe they should be free to work in another country if they wish. The people think if they work on the same place they should get experience of the relative profession in the same environment but if they want to work in any other country its their choice because of peace of mind. I will discuss both views.

First of all, some individuals believe that it is an important part of traning to do work on the same place where someone complete his degree. They think if they should work they more experience if they work in the same country by working in the same environment where they learn anything. For instance, my cusion who had completed his degree in the UK and then work their for three years. He becomes a professional when he return to his home country.

On the other hand. others believe that they should be free to work in any other country due to the fact the peace of soul and mental satisfaction is an important thing of life. They believe if they are not satisfied while working somewhere they should free to move any other place for work. For example, my elder brother had recently completed his degree of doctor and then he started to work there but he always remained unsatisfied by his work. My father asked him to come back and start work there, now he is one of the best doctors of my country because he wanted to help his own people.

To conclude, working in the same country is a good thing in order to gain more professional experience but mental satisfaction is important. Personally, I believe that without mental peace it is difficult for many individuals to do work properly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding 'peace of mind' and 'professional experience' are introduced but lack depth and academic rigor. The examples provided, such as the cousin and the brother, are personal anecdotes rather than broader, more analytical arguments, which limits the sophistication of the response. To improve, you should focus on expanding your reasoning with more general, objective points rather than relying solely on personal stories, ensuring the position is more clearly and consistently maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition 'On the other hand' is used, but other linking words are basic or missing, making the flow between sentences feel somewhat disjointed. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'the people think' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices to link ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, central topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'peace of soul' and 'relative profession', which do not sound natural in an academic context. Spelling errors, such as 'traning' and 'cusion', also occur. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of word-choice errors limit the score. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and ensure you are using words in their correct context to demonstrate a more flexible range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'if they should work they more experience' and 'they should free to move'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops where commas would be more appropriate, such as 'On the other hand. others believe'. These frequent errors, while not completely impeding communication, occur throughout the text and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Increasing the variety of sentence types and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement will help improve this score.
