Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue that experts such as doctor and engineers, should work in the country where they did their practice. While others think that professionals should be allowed to work in their desired country. In my opinion, experts should have the independence to work in their dream country because it can help in their self development and support financially.

On the one hand, few people consider that doctors and engineers should work freely in any country if they are interested. Initially, when experts move to their favorite state for employment, this can enhance their confidence. Moreover, working in their desired country can help them to work efficiently with complete interest, this can enhance their skills such as problem-solving, decision making skills and communication skills. Lastly, most of the people cannot get a chance to study in a developed country because of their financial issues. Thus, they wish to work in their desired country for better career opportunities, this can overcome their financial problems. In my opinion, experts should move to other countries for job, this can help them to improve their conditions.

On the other hand, some people believe that professionals should work in the country where they study because this can be harmful for country's economy and technical departments. Furthermore, when experts such as doctors and engineers do not work in their county, this can be very disadvantageous for country's development. However, these issues can be resolved, government should provide better job opportunities with good earnings. Additionally, technical departments should also import foreign experts.

In conclusion, although doctors and engineers should work in the country where they do their training for country's development, yet it is very significant for professionals to move to their desired country for work because it can help in their self development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'financial issues' and 'self-development' is repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples to support the claims. While the prompt asks for a discussion of both views, the arguments provided are quite generic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of 'brain drain' for developing nations or provide more nuanced examples of how working abroad specifically enhances professional skills beyond general statements like 'problem-solving'. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis is limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition 'Lastly' is used to introduce a point that is not the final point of the paragraph. Additionally, some sentences are linked with comma splices (e.g., '...with complete interest, this can enhance...'), which affects the flow. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on common words like 'experts', 'work', and 'country' repeatedly. While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'technical departments' and 'career opportunities', there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'favorite state' (when you likely mean 'country') and 'improve their conditions'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and to convey your ideas with greater nuance and academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'experts such as doctor and engineers'), missing articles (e.g., 'for country's economy'), and comma splices. While you attempt complex structures, they are often punctuated incorrectly. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence forms and ensure that your basic grammar, particularly regarding plurals and articles, is more consistent.
