Student answer (Band 6.0)
A Great amount of deliberation is needed to answer this question. Restricting professionals, such as doctors and engineers might not ethically be sound. This concept could be hard to bring to reality and can become a great problem for international cooperation.
Developing nations would be one suffering the most if such restrictions are placed on professionals. If we consider this in ecnomic terms, one can raise a point that professionals learn and practice their profession in their home country but than immigrate to foreign countries for better living oppotunities. This create a scarcity of professionals. Another important point is that if we don't allow professionals to move freely, they would not get rich experience from around the world. This would especially affect people in developing countries, where world class professionals come to treat people, who are not financially in a condition to travel to other countries for their treatment. An evident example of this is, Dr. Ruth Phau. If such restrictions would have been in place, many people would have died of endless suffering from leprospy.
There could be some benefits of restricting professionals such as, the scarcity of professionals created in developing countries could be dealt by it. Another aspect that should be brought to light is that such restrictions could stop developed countries from acquiring the best professionals from the field for economic benefits. This could push the professionals into serving their own countries.
Concluding from above arguments, it is made clear that restricting professionals have grave disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the argument regarding the 'brain drain' in developing nations is relevant, the explanation of the benefits of restricting professionals is quite brief and lacks depth. The example of Dr. Ruth Pfau is a good attempt at supporting the argument, but the connection to the prompt could be more explicitly linked to the concept of professional mobility. To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the discussion are explored with equal depth and that the personal opinion is more clearly integrated throughout the essay rather than just implied.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally. The conclusion is very brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs, which limits the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'ecnomic', 'oppotunities', 'leprospy') and some awkward word choices (e.g., 'ethically be sound', 'rich experience'). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'international cooperation' and 'scarcity', the range is somewhat limited. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms. The current level of vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('restricting professionals... might not ethically be sound') and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors in comma placement. While the meaning is rarely obscured, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring greater accuracy in basic grammar would significantly improve the score.
