Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed that skilled workers such as doctors and engineers should only work in the nation where they received their education and training whereas other people believe professionals should be given free liberty to choose whether to work in foreign country or their own country. In my opinion, skilled workers should have the freedom of choice because of personal growth and personal liberty.
State funds medical and engineering schools with large amount of taxpayers money which is why they expect a return on that investment. Moreover, many countries face severe shortage of professional workers in the field of medicine and engineering which affects the economy because funds are used for schools which do not give the desired output. Consequently, many people believe it should be mandatory for professionals to do local work to contribute to their country that gave them this future.
On the other hand, it is believed that people should be given freedom of choice for their career because it is basic human right to choose where to live and where to work. Furthermore, if an expert works abroad they learn new skills and techniques which contributes to their growth, higher salary, better career. Similarly, the skills or expertise that an individual gains working in foreign countries can be taught to others in their own country.
In my opinion, humans have a right to choose where to work because otherwise it limits their growth, potential and gives rise to frustration that contributes to unrest in the country. Instead of imposing bans or forcing mandatory work, government should try to improve local working conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic argument regarding taxpayer investment and the personal freedom argument. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'unrest in the country' is mentioned but not fully explained or linked back to the prompt's context of professional migration. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the consequences of these policies. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of argumentation could be improved.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to link sentences and ideas. However, there are some instances where the flow could be smoother, and the referencing is occasionally a bit mechanical. The transition between the economic argument and the personal freedom argument is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task. The structure is sufficient to guide the reader through your argument without confusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'taxpayers money', 'mandatory', 'professional workers', and 'expertise'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'free liberty' (which is redundant) and 'foreign country' (which should be pluralized or preceded by an article). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited, and the phrasing is occasionally repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding redundant expressions to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('State funds medical...', 'in foreign country'), subject-verb agreement issues, and minor punctuation slips. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You show an ability to construct complex sentences, but the control over these structures is not entirely consistent. Focusing on article usage and ensuring subject-verb agreement in more complex sentences will help improve your accuracy and overall grammatical range.
