Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, there has been an ongoing debate about some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers should be required to work in the country where they did their training. I firmly believe that every person has their own rights to stay or work wherever they want, we should never force anybody to stay in their home country.

On the one hand, some argue that professionals, such as doctors and engineers required to work in their own country. The core belief is that we should let our citizens to be free and can go wherever they want to work to make their future bright and more secure. This is because a person set his life goal according to his desire and the things he want to do in the future which will assist him to be a successful person in his life. for instance; everybody has different choice and preference some loves to work in his home country & other loves to move abroad to get more experience and can return whenever he want. Thus, focusing on to work in home country only cannot justify everyone day to day needs and they want to earn higher amount of money too.

On the other hand, others insist that all the professionals such as doctors and engineers and so on need to work in the country where did they do their training. The reason for this is that if everybody goes abroad for their better career and to explore more opportunities our home country will lack in health care facility and its a type of betrayal towards our country. For example ; In many countries due to lack of insufficient doctors, nurses , ward boys and so on creates a problem in their development.

In conclusion, to keep and make all the professionals to stay in their home country. Government should provide their workers a sufficient amount of facilities and a better career environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'betrayal' in the second body paragraph is mentioned but not fully explored or supported with a strong logical link to the broader societal impact. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points or reinforce the position. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the depth of analysis is inconsistent, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, the internal flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'This is because a person set his life goal...', where the connection to the previous point is weak. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks a clear transition from the body of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is frequent repetition of basic terms like 'work', 'country', and 'people'. Some word choices are imprecise or non-standard, such as 'ward boys' or 'lack of insufficient doctors', which is a double negative. While the meaning is generally clear, the student relies on a limited set of vocabulary and struggles to incorporate more sophisticated or academic collocations that would enhance the quality of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everybody has different choice'), missing articles, and awkward syntax (e.g., 'some people believe that professionals... should be required'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of semicolons and commas. While the errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures, keeping the score in the mid-range.
