Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a view held by some individuals that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the nation where they complete their training, while others believe they should do their work where they want. This essay will discuss both views. In my opinion, although they should be free to work in other countries, it would be better to work in their own nation where they did their training.
On the one hand, some people believe that they should work independently. The main reason is that earning a degree in a field like medical and engineering required a lot of hard work, long hours of study, and a lot of money in university fees, so some students want to choose their own life after graduation and they want to experience different cultures and explore other nations. Another reason is that in developed nations there is better equipment, laboratories, and healthcare systems.
On the other hand, it is argued that professionals should work in the country where they did their training. One major reason is that skilled professionals can contribute to the development of their own country and help train the next generation, because the government also invests a lot of money in these universities. Therefore, when these graduates leave the country immediately after finishing their studies, the local community suffers greatly.
In conclusion, although professionals such as doctors and engineers working independently have benefits. I believe that professionals should work in their nation where they complete their training it will benefit their country in many ways.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'better equipment' in developed nations is mentioned but not fully explained in relation to the professionals' career trajectory. Similarly, the argument regarding government investment is a strong point, but it could have been expanded with a more concrete example or a deeper analysis of the economic impact. The position is consistent, but the depth of the arguments remains at a surface level, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the transition between the two sides of the argument is handled well using 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally mechanical. For example, the phrase 'Another reason is that' and 'One major reason is that' are standard but lack variety. Additionally, the final sentence of the conclusion is a run-on sentence that lacks proper punctuation, which slightly disrupts the flow of the final argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some use of topic-specific vocabulary such as 'skilled professionals', 'healthcare systems', and 'graduation'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing. Some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'work independently' to describe working abroad, which does not quite capture the nuance of international mobility. To improve, the student should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic synonyms to demonstrate a wider range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'earning a degree... required a lot of hard work' contains a tense inconsistency (should be 'requires'). The final sentence is a comma splice and lacks a conjunction or semicolon to connect the clauses properly ('...complete their training it will benefit...'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and sentence boundary punctuation is needed.
