Student answer (Band 6.0)

High demand professions such as engineers, doctors or architects always plays a vital role in the development of any country. There has been a debate between individuals about whether these professionals should only serve their own country where the completed their studies or they should be free to fly in different country to practice their profession. This essay will highlight both opinions along with relevant examples and my personal view point.

Firstly, every country is spending a significant part of the economy in educational sector which results in free and standard education for the people so that they can choose to study medical sciences, engineering or any other field. After spending a huge amount on talented individuals every country wants them to serve them once they are graduated. For example, Germany is providing free education for every other student so that they can study with ease without any financial hustles and serve the country after successfully completing their studies. This formula is working well for Germany and after graduation youngsters pay back the government with their talent and professional services in different fields as i mentioned above.

On the other hand, there are some countries like Pakistan which is not very stable country in terms of economy, opportunities and growth. In this situation if someone migrate to some other country and earn a good income their will benefit the country itself as well. For instance, My father was a head petroleum engineer in Dubai. He was earning very good amount their and on the backend our family was living a good life in Pakistan. If you can look at the data in 2026 you can have an idea that foreign income is playing a big role in Pakistan's economy.

In my opinion, everyone should be free to practice his or her profession wherever he or she wants if it is a necessary.

To conclude, people should be free to work in an country as long as they are contributing in a national cause. Moreover, If a country is in a need of some particular professionals than as an individual we should serve the country for that specific time period.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding Germany is clear, but the example of Pakistan is anecdotal and could be better linked to the broader economic theory of 'brain drain' or 'remittances'. The conclusion introduces a new, nuanced point about serving for a 'specific time period' which was not fully explored in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that your personal opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout the essay without introducing new arguments in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the sentence 'If you can look at the data in 2026 you can have an idea', which feels disconnected from the preceding argument. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the final paragraph is quite brief and could be better integrated with the preceding analysis to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'vital role' and 'financial hustles' (though 'hustles' is slightly informal/inaccurate here). Some word choices are repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'country' and 'serve'. There are also minor errors in collocation and word form, such as 'where the completed their studies' (should be 'where they completed') and 'if it is a necessary' (should be 'if it is necessary'). Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on precise collocations would improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('professionals... always plays'), article usage ('in educational sector'), and prepositional errors ('fly in different country'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be highly beneficial.
