Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people feel that experienced workers, such as doctors and engineers must be restricted to work in the country where they completed their training. Others argue that they should have the freedom to work anywhere in the world as per their interest. I believe it depends upon the working professionals to have their choice of working in any country irrespective of the country they did their previous training.

On the one hand, some people believe that professionals should stay back after their completion of their training to pursue their working in the respective country. It is believed that they might expose the training and experienced which they have learnt by excelling their work in other country. In other words, it feels like they learn knowledge from a country but in return they do not provide any benefits for the country. So, people think it is better for the professionals to serve the nation from which they have acquired the skills.

On the other hand, others argue that they should be set free to work anywhere they want, that is because these professionals come from different areas of the world to pursue their training in the universities. Later, they move back to their respective home countries. The professionals are usually young interns who have the responsibilities to look after their families so, after their completion of training they tend to go back to live with their parents and work there.

In my opinion, the professionals have their own rights to work in any country according to their personal interest, some people tend to work in the same country after their completion of their training to get exposure with the professionals out there. While other travel back to their home country to serve their nation.

In conclusion, it depends on each individual, they can work anywhere but most of the professionals choose to work in a country where they are paid according to their qualifications.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. In the second paragraph, the argument regarding 'giving back' to the country is clear, but the explanation is slightly repetitive. In the third paragraph, the point about young interns returning to their families is a bit tangential to the core debate about professional mobility. The conclusion is brief and introduces a new point about salary, which was not previously discussed. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph fully explores the implications of the arguments presented rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the structure. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where 'they might expose the training' is confusingly phrased. The flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple sentence-by-sentence progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'pursue their working' instead of 'pursue their careers' and 'get exposure with the professionals' instead of 'gain exposure to'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'work', 'country', and 'training'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to international labor markets, professional development, and economic migration.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the training and experienced which they have learnt' (should be 'the training and experience they have gained') and 'the professionals have their own rights to work' (should be 'professionals have the right'). Punctuation is mostly correct, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in verb tense and article usage. The control of complex structures is inconsistent, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
