Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people think that skilled person such as doctors, engineers and teachers should served for the country where they are being able to achieved this skill. While other people believe that they should have free wills to work in any country they want. People who think in this way that doctors and engineers should work in their country is that they want them to served for their country who helped them to achieve their desire goals. Because many countries provide many opportunities for medical, engineer and for other students also. Government also opened many colloges and school where you do not need any financial support. However, this is the reason people want them to stay in their own country. On the other hand, there are some people who agree with this that professionals such as doctors and engineers should be free to go any place or country they want. One main reason is that some students came from another cities to acquire this knowledge because in their city there are not much resources for education. So students should be free to go any country or city they want. However, I also completely agree with this because they have also the right to spend their life in their own way. If professional people want to go another country they should be free to go. There should not be any restrictions from the government or from the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second paragraph where the argument for freedom of movement is not fully extended with specific examples or logical consequences. The response is also quite brief, meaning the discussion of the opposing view lacks the necessary detail to reach a higher band. To improve, you should expand on the implications of each viewpoint, perhaps discussing the economic impact on developing nations versus individual human rights.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of varied cohesive devices. While you use 'However' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts, the internal structure of the paragraphs is somewhat mechanical. Some sentences are disjointed, and the flow between ideas could be improved by using more sophisticated linking words or referencing techniques. The paragraphing is present, but the overall structure feels underdeveloped due to the short length of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several errors in word form and collocation, such as 'skilled person' instead of 'skilled professionals', 'served for' instead of 'serve', and 'colloges' (spelling error). You rely on basic vocabulary and repeat terms like 'doctors and engineers' frequently. To improve, try to use synonyms or more academic terminology to describe the concepts of professional migration and state-funded education.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'where they are being able to achieved this skill' (incorrect verb tense/form) and 'some students came from another cities' (pluralization error). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent, such as 'people who think... is that'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and verb tense consistency.
