Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that skilled professionals, such as medical staff and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they received their training, while others believe that they should have the freedom to work abroad if they choose. I believe that professionals should be allowed to work in any country they prefer.
On the one hand, medical and engineers should do work in their home country because country has spent a lot of resources on their education and trainings. Consequently, government spends higher amounts of money on students learning and gaining to get higher employments. However, if trained doctors and engineers go abroad than the local country may have affected by shortage of skilled workers. It affects especially developing country's healthcare and infrastructure. For example, if a developing country trains hundreds of doctors but most of them move abroad, local hospitals may face a serious shortage of medical staff.
On the other hand, every person should have a right to take decisions about their future and career. Foreign countries provide higher salaries and opportunities rather than their own country. Whereas, professionals gain too much international experience while working some where else. Furthermore, this experience and trainings may also benefit their national country in the future. For instance, doctors who work in advanced healthcare systems can gain valuable knowledge and experience, which they may later use to improve medical services in their home countries.
In conclusion, although professionals working in their home country can benefit the local economy. I believe that they should be free to work abroad if they wish, as this can provide them with better career opportunities and valuable experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic burden on the state versus individual career freedom. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'national country' benefiting from returning professionals is mentioned but not fully explored with specific detail. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to expand on the implications of these arguments with more nuanced examples or deeper analysis of the consequences for both the individual and the state.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Consequently', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Whereas, professionals gain too much international experience'. Additionally, the referencing in the second paragraph ('local country may have affected') is slightly unclear. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, and the structure supports the central argument effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'infrastructure' and 'healthcare systems'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'gaining to get higher employments' and 'national country' (instead of 'home country' or 'native country'). The phrase 'gain too much international experience' is also slightly unnatural in this context. While the errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of academic collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'medical and engineers should do work' (subject-verb agreement/word choice), 'than the local country may have affected' (incorrect passive voice/conjunction usage), and 'although professionals working in their home country can benefit the local economy. I believe...' (sentence fragment). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of complex sentence structures, particularly in subordinating clauses.
