Student answer (Band 5.5)

Yes, it is true that some people have different opinions on whether doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they did their training or they should be free to work in another country if they wish. This essay will cover both the arguments of people and will conclude with both the positive and negative aspects of this and my opinion as well.

Firstly some people believe that professionals should be required to work in the country when they did their training due to the fact that they have better knowledge about their people and they can serve them better by staying in their country, however some people also believe that they should be free to work in another country, and the reason for that is humanity has no limits. if they are getting more money in another country then why not. Additionally, they can enhance their knowledge by interacting with different people of different cultures .

From my perspective, they should be free to work in another country if they want to . As far as I'm concerned, I firmly believe they should go because that thing will each enhance their skills and will also encourage them to gain the higher knowledge and when they will come back or even if the while staying in the country they can serve their country very well. I know my one cousin which went to England and wrote his own book on the Structural Engineering and it become so popular that he received an award for that.

Overall, I will say that the decision must be their, if they want to stay or leave we must respect their decision . It will encourage them to get better in future .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that professionals should stay to serve their own people, the argument could be strengthened with more specific examples of the impact on local healthcare or infrastructure. Similarly, the point about 'humanity having no limits' is a good start but lacks depth. The personal example of your cousin is relevant and helps support your position, but the overall essay would benefit from more detailed exploration of the implications of both perspectives to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', and 'Overall', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'that thing will each enhance their skills'. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their intended antecedents to improve the overall cohesion of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'Structural Engineering' and 'professionals'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic phrasing, such as 'getting more money' or 'do that thing'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of 'getting more money', you could use 'seeking better remuneration' or 'pursuing higher financial incentives'. There are no significant spelling errors, but the word choice lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I know my one cousin which went to England' (should be 'who went') and 'the decision must be their' (should be 'theirs'). Additionally, there are issues with punctuation and sentence boundary errors, such as comma splices. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct relative pronoun usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated accurately.
