Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, there are many professions which are available for people such as teacher, doctor, engineers, chef and lawyer. There are some people who believed that professionals should work in same country from which they gets trained. While other believed that there should be freedom from people to work in different countries.

To become a professional in any categories one should be trained for many years in such profession. For example, if a person wanted to become a doctor and completed their study and training in their own country, then that person should be remain in same country and do not work in other country. If every person started going to work to other country then the development and number of professional personal will became declined which affect country growth. Professional staying on same country can helps in growth and developments of the country and their people.

On the other hand, Some people believed that there should not be any restriction for professionals to works in another country. At present times, many people are travelling to other country because of the different reasons. For example, if a person was professional in computer then many company which is situated in other country can invite a person to join in their company. The reason to work in another country is person can get more salary from their home country and have a better lifestyles.

In my opinions, There should be some rules like after completing training the person should spent few years in their home country and after completion of certain period they can work freely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'decline' of professional standards is asserted but not fully explained or supported with concrete evidence. The suggestion for a compromise in the conclusion is relevant, but the overall depth of the discussion is basic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples, ensuring that the link between the training location and the economic impact on a country is more logically articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the other hand' and 'For example', to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, some sentences are loosely connected, and the flow between ideas could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to ensure the text reads more smoothly. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more refinement.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'work', 'country', and 'person' throughout the essay. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'professional personal' instead of 'professionals' or 'workforce', and 'became declined' instead of 'would decline'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to migration, economics, and professional development, and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your word choices sound more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people who believed', 'number of professional personal will became declined'), article usage ('in same country'), and tense inconsistencies ('if a person was professional'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and focus on eliminating basic errors in verb tense, pluralisation, and article usage.
