Student answer (Band 6.0)

while some individuals believe that it is crucial for professionals such as doctors and engineers work in the country where they completed their training, others argue that they should be free to work anywhere in the world. From my perspective, they should have freedom to work anywhere in the world. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my opnion.

On the one hand, some people think that professionals such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the country where they did their training. This is because they believe that people should expose their talent or experience where they learn it. For example, many professionals such as engineers and scientists complete their degrees and training in pakistan, however, they move abroad because of earning a considerable amount of money. As a result, many countries are still developing and they also lose their many talented professionals.

On the other hand, some individuals who oppose this view argue that professionals should be free to work in another country if they wish. One of the main reasons is that they think that when many professionals will move in developed countries, they can contribute to the economic development of their nations and they can also access to advanced resources and technology, which can foster their skills. For instance, many people after completing their degrees move abroad because they want to represent the problems of underdeveloping nations on higher level. Consequently, many nations can access to a wide range of advanced materials and modern technology.

In conclusion, although this development have certain disadvantages, I believe that benefits outweigh the drawbacks because many professionals contribute to the economic development of their nations and also represents the problems of developing countires in front of developed nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic contribution of professionals and the loss of talent in developing nations. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'representing problems of underdeveloping nations' is a bit vague and could have been supported with more concrete examples or deeper analysis. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band score, remaining somewhat repetitive in their focus on economic development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the repetitive use of 'many' and 'also' within sentences. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'economic development', 'advanced resources', and 'modern technology'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'expose their talent' or 'underdeveloping nations' (instead of 'developing' or 'underdeveloped'). The repetition of basic words like 'many' and 'people' suggests a need for a broader range of synonyms to improve precision and variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'doctors and engineers work' (missing 'should'), 'access to advanced resources' (unnecessary 'to'), and 'this development have' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the comma splice in the introduction. The frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, as the control over complex structures is not yet consistent.
